Dad, Mom...I am NOT INTERESTED in Boys!!!

Girl: Dad, mom, I have to tell you something (pause) I am not interested in boys.
Mother: I told you not to send her to a girls' school.
Father: You didn't let her mingle wit the boys in the building...

Dont say you have not noticed these ads where this girl shocks her parents saying she is not interested in men. She cuts a call from her boyfriend in front of her anxious parents announcing..." I dont want to go to Goa with them," and how she manages her Goa trip with her boyfriend!

Also there was this ad...where a young man breaking traffic rules wins the sympathy of the policeman when his angry father asks him to be shown no mercy...The "father" is later shown to be his his college mates....

As they say...you can either like or dislike these VIRGIN MOBILE ads...but you cant never ignore them!

To the uninitiated...Virgin Mobile, a UK-based group, owned by British billionaire Richard Branson, had launched its telecom brand “Virgin Mobile” in India under a franchisee agreement with telecom major Tata Teleservices.

Unlike other mobile operators they have declared their target just on one segment ...the YOUTH...and you can see it from their ads!!! Not just the visual ads...but their print and outdoor campaigns are equally smarter...or as smart as their ideas!...GET PAID FOR YOUR INCOMING...one fine morning they screamed and what an Idea is that!!!...no doubt it is an idea that will win hands down among its targeted audience...the youth...

Remember HUTCH was taking a risky step by choosing PINK as their color...but after VODAFONE takeover it was RED and there was even a print campaign ..."When the whole world is going Red...why not U?..."...here VIRGIN shot back...with .."We have not yet begun...and our competitor is already seeing RED!!!" (what a copy!)...

In Coimbatore at all vantage points they have erected that huge hoarding showing a PYT (Pretty Young Thing..to the uninitiated) wearing a T-shirt with "CALL ME...92xxxxxxx)...which have turned out to be literal traffic stoppers...again...a case of you can like it or dislike it...but you cant ignore it!

In advtg nothing matters...only thing that matters if it sells or not!!! I think agency BDE (Bates David Enterprise) is behind these campaigns and they have done a wonderful job at that!
I have seen parents/elders not happy/not comfortable with these ads...again...you cant say a campaign is not successful if someone dislikes it...if you do not like these ads it means just one thing...that you dont not belong to its target group which is the young....or more rightly those young at heart!!!...so now you like the ad or not?
